Bible Quiz Team

Purpose Statement

The IBC Quiz Team exists to help students mature as disciples of Jesus Christ by enabling and encouraging them to memorize, understand, and apply God’s Word in the context of Christian fellowship.

What is Bible Quizzing?

IBC youth has the opportunity to participate in Bible Quizzing, which is a ministry of the IFCA International Youth Council, a fellowship committed to Biblical ministry. The Youth Council hosts an annual youth convention which features a National Bible Quiz tournament where church quiz teams from around the U.S. compete. Regions are also setup for local churches to participate and compete with other local churches throughout the season prior to the IFCA youth convention. The season runs from the beginning of September and ends with the convention during the last week of June.

Why we do Quizzing

We believe that the ministry of quizzing, the hiding of God's Word in the heart, together with an intellectual grasp of the Scripture, provides a dynamic platform for spiritual growth to occur in our youth.  Furthermore, this ministry lays a foundation of Biblical knowledge and understanding upon which the Holy Spirit is able to build for years to come.

Practice

  • Sunday afternoon, 4:00—6:00 PM.

  • 2nd Friday of every month 6:00-8:00 PM. No practice on the Sunday following the Friday night practice.

  • Three to four all afternoon quiz practices throughout the year.

Pace

We memorize 7-11 verses per week.  The quizzer is expected to review, quoting ALL of their learned material once EACH week to their PAL (Prayer Accountability Link).
